Cast Player UI - Frequently Asked Questions
General / Getting Started
What is Cast Player?
Cast Player is where customers and partners experience personalized, interactive presentations. It delivers narrated, data-driven slides with AI-powered voice, animated visualizations, avatar presenters, and an AI chat assistant (AMA).
How do I access a presentation?
There are four ways to access a Cast presentation:
- Email link – Click a personalized link sent directly to your inbox.
- In-app widget – A floating chat bubble embedded in a product you already use. Click the bubble to open the player.
- Direct URL – Navigate to a portal or direct link shared by your team.
No login or password is required. Each link is unique and tied to your account.
What browsers are supported?
Desktop: Chrome 90+, Firefox 88+, Safari 14+, Edge 90+
Mobile: iOS Safari 14+, Chrome Mobile 90+, Samsung Internet 14+
Make sure your browser is up to date for the best experience.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. The player is fully responsive. On mobile devices you get larger tap targets, simplified controls, and an expandable settings menu. The layout adapts between portrait and landscape orientations.
Playback Controls
How do I play or pause the presentation?
Click the Play/Pause button in the center of the bottom control bar. Alternatively, press the Space key. In autoplay mode, narration starts automatically when you first interact with the page.
How do I navigate between slides?
- Next slide: Click the Next button (double forward chevron) or press the Right Arrow key.
- Previous slide: Click the Previous button (double backward chevron) or press the Left Arrow key.
In autoplay mode, slides advance automatically after narration completes. You can override this by clicking Next at any time.
How do I restart the presentation?
Click the Restart button (replay icon) in the bottom bar or press the R key. This returns to the first slide and begins playback from the beginning.
What does the Explore button do?
The Explore button (map/slides icon) navigates you to the first navigation slide in the presentation. This lets you jump to a decision point where you can choose which section to view. It does not open a thumbnail gallery.
Is there a progress indicator?
Yes. On desktop, a linear progress bar fills across the bottom of the player based on elapsed time vs. total duration. On mobile, a circular progress pie shows the same information. Both desktop and mobile also display elapsed and total time (e.g. “45s of 2m 30s”).
The progress bar shows your position but cannot be clicked to jump ahead.
What keyboard shortcuts are available?
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| Space | Play / Pause |
| Left Arrow | Previous slide |
| Right Arrow | Next slide |
| Arrow Up | Volume up (10% increment) |
| Arrow Down | Volume down (10% increment) |
| M | Mute / Unmute |
| R | Restart presentation |
| Escape | Exit fullscreen |
| F11 | Exit fullscreen |
Audio and Volume
How do I mute or unmute?
Click the Mute button (speaker icon) in the bottom bar or press the M key. When muted, the icon changes to a speaker with an X. Narration continues to play silently so animations stay in sync.
How do I adjust the volume?
Use the Arrow Up and Arrow Down keys to raise or lower volume in 10% increments. There is no on-screen volume slider.
Why do I see “Click for immersive experience”?
Most browsers require you to interact with the page before audio can play. Until your first click, the presentation moves forward silently. Click anywhere on the play overlay or the muted speaker icon to enable audio. After that, narration plays at normal speed with full sound.
What happens if audio fails to load?
The player automatically retries loading audio a couple of times. If it still cannot load, the player skips ahead to the next narration so you are not stuck. If you are offline, playback pauses until your internet connection returns.
Avatar
What is the avatar?
The avatar is a virtual presenter that appears in the player and narrates the presentation. It speaks using an AI voice and its mouth movements match the narration in real time.
Can I change the avatar?
Yes. Click the avatar image in the bottom bar to open the avatar selector panel. You can choose from:
- 8 human characters: James, Lily, Robert, Rovanna, Chandler, Monica, John, Scarlett
- Blob avatars: Abstract, minimalist animated shapes (male and female variants)
- Robot avatar: A futuristic robotic presenter
Human characters support multiple skin tones. After selecting, click Apply to confirm.
Can I hide the avatar?
You can switch to the blob avatar as a minimal alternative. Click the avatar in the bottom bar to toggle between the blob and your last selected character. The blob shows a small animated shape instead of a full character.
What accessories are available?
The avatar selector panel includes accessory options such as glasses, headphones, and AirPods. Available accessories depend on the selected character.
AMA (Ask Me Anything)
What is AMA?
AMA is an AI-powered conversational assistant embedded in the player. It can answer questions about the data shown in your presentation, navigate to specific slides, show recommendations, and collect feedback.
How do I open AMA?
On desktop, click the Ask Me button (chat bubble with sparkles icon) in the bottom control bar. On mobile, open the settings menu (three dots) and tap Ask Me Anything. The AMA button only appears when AMA is enabled for the presentation.
Does AMA support voice conversations?
Yes. AMA supports both voice and text modes:
- Voice mode: Uses your microphone to listen to your question. The player automatically detects when you stop speaking.
- Text mode: Type your question in the chat input and press Enter.
If microphone permission is denied, AMA automatically switches to text-only mode. You can still type your questions.
What kinds of questions can I ask?
AMA can handle different types of questions depending on the context:
- Data questions: Ask about metrics, compare values, explain trends, and get recommendations.
- Feedback: Share your feedback using rating scales (such as thumbs up/down, star ratings, and others) with follow-up questions.
- Custom topics: Some presentations include a specialized assistant tailored to a specific subject.
Can AMA navigate the presentation for me?
Yes. AMA can jump to specific slides, find relevant content, and display recommendations. You can say or type things like “show me the usage slide” or “what are my recommendations.”
Language Support
How do I change the language?
Click the Language button (globe with flag icon) in the bottom bar. This opens the language selection panel where you can pick from the available languages.
Which languages are supported?
| Language |
|---|
| US English |
| UK English |
| Australian English |
| French (Française) |
| Portuguese (Português) |
| Spanish (Español) |
| Italian (Italiano) |
| German (Deutsch) |
| Dutch (Nederlandse) |
| Danish (Dansk) |
| Japanese (日本語) |
| Hindi (हिन्दी) |
| Chinese Simplified (中文) |
| Chinese Traditional (繁體中文) |
| Turkish (Türkçe) |
| Korean (한국어) |
| Indonesian (Bahasa) |
Not all languages may be available for every presentation. Availability depends on how the presentation was set up.
Does changing language affect narration?
Yes. Switching language reloads all narrations in the new language, translates chart labels and content, and restarts narration for the current slide in the selected language.
Sharing and Feedback
How do I share a presentation?
Click the Share button (upload/share arrow icon) in the bottom bar. An invite form appears where you can enter a recipient’s name, email address, or phone number (SMS). Playback pauses while the share form is open.
How do I provide feedback?
Click the Feedback button (thumbs up icon) in the bottom bar. This opens a guided feedback conversation. Depending on the presentation, you may see different rating scales such as 0-10 scores, 1-5 star ratings, thumbs up/down, or others.
What are recommendations?
Recommendations are contextual action items shown in the right panel on desktop. They include things like scheduling a meeting, accessing a resource, submitting a form, or contacting support. Recommendations can be:
- Static: Always visible for the presentation.
- Dynamic: Appear at specific points during the narration and are briefly highlighted to catch your attention.
Some recommendations let you send an email directly from the panel.
Transcripts and Subtitles
Are live transcripts available?
Yes. The player provides a live transcript panel (accessible from the right panel on desktop, or the settings menu on mobile) that shows all narration text grouped by slide. Features include:
- Clickable narration text to jump to that specific narration point.
- Visual timeline under each slide title showing how long each part takes.
- Automatic scrolling to the narration currently playing, with highlighting.
- A toggle to collapse and show only the currently active narration.
- Recommendation links next to relevant narrations.
Can I toggle subtitles?
Yes. On mobile, open the settings menu and tap Hide Subtitles or Show Subtitles to toggle narration subtitles on or off. Subtitles appear as a text box near the avatar.
UI Tour
Is there a guided tour of the player?
Yes, if enabled for the presentation. A Tour button (flag icon) appears in the bottom bar. Clicking it starts a narrated walkthrough of approximately 15 UI elements including:
- Company and contact logos
- Avatar area
- Restart and Explore buttons
- Mute/unmute control
- Play/pause controls
- Language selector
- Share button
- AMA and Feedback buttons
- Recommendations and Transcripts panel
Each stop highlights the element and speaks a brief explanation. Other controls are paused while the tour is active. You can cancel the tour by clicking outside or pressing the tour button again. The tour is also available in other languages when a non-English language is selected.
In-App Widget
Can the player be embedded in another product?
Yes. The in-app widget shows a floating chat bubble that can appear on the left or right side of the page. Clicking the bubble opens a window with multiple tabs:
- Play: The full presentation player.
- AMA: The Ask Me Anything chat interface.
- Page: A hub or external page.
- Information: A page showing recommendations you can scroll through.
A visual prompt with a progress bar can also appear to draw your attention before you interact with the bubble.
Troubleshooting
The presentation is not loading
The player automatically retries loading the presentation several times. During retries, you will see a message like “We detected a network issue. Retrying 3/10.”
- If the presentation link is invalid or expired, you will see “Presentation not found” with a support email address.
- If all retries fail, a “Something went wrong” error screen appears with a Retry button that reloads the page.
- Verify the link is correct and has not expired.
Audio is not playing
- Check that the mute button is not active (speaker icon should not have an X).
- Click anywhere on the player to allow audio to play. Look for the “Click for immersive experience” overlay.
- Try pressing Arrow Up to increase volume.
- Check your browser’s site-level audio permissions (some browsers mute specific sites).
- Refresh the page and try again.
Video is not autoplaying
Sometimes your browser may prevent video from playing automatically. When this happens, the player pauses and shows a message. Click the play button to start the video manually.
AMA microphone is not working
- Ensure your browser has microphone permission for the site. Check the address bar for a microphone icon or go to browser settings.
- If permission was denied, AMA automatically switches to text-only mode. You can still type questions.
- Verify no other application is exclusively using the microphone.
- Reload the page after granting permission.
The page looks zoomed in or out
The player automatically manages zoom to keep the layout looking correct. If the layout still appears broken, try resetting your browser zoom to 100% (Ctrl/Cmd + 0 in the browser address bar, outside the player).
Controls are not responding
- Refresh the page.
- Ensure the guided tour is not active (it disables controls during the tour).
- Clear your browser cache and try again.
- Try a different supported browser.
